George Richard “Dick” Jarvis
August 4, 1962 – March 16, 2025
George Richard “Dick” Jarvis passed away on March 16, 2025 in Commack, Long Island, New York after several years of battling Parkinson’s disease. Dick was born August 4, 1962 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late William D. and Altafay C.(nee Bradshaw) Jarvis.
Dick was a 1980 graduate of Dupo High School. Upon graduation Dick enlisted in the United States Army, following in the footsteps of his Father and 2 older brothers. While serving in the Army in Louisiana, South Carolina and Germany Dick represented the Army in many athletic competitions. After his time in the service Dick settled on Long Island and started his family and embraced being a New Yorker. He loved showing off the City when family came to visit. Dick retired from Roadway/Yellow Freight. He was a fun loving family man and friend and he will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his wife Anne, Sons, Jason Jarvis and Michael (Christina) Jarvis, his Daughter, Jaime (Mark) Whalen, his grandchildren, Harper, Landon, D’Angelo, Dessa, Dexter, Mathew, Neveah, Aaron, Makenna and Olivia, his siblings, Brenda (Bruce) Dixon, Wayne (Vickie) Jarvis, Marilyn (Dwight) Henderson, Pam (Lee) Grantham and Jim (Sherri LaCroix) Jarvis, his first wife and mother of his children Christine Cauley along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister in infancy Linda Jarvis and his brother Randy Jarvis.
Dick was interred at Pinelawn National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
