George O. Deterding's Obituary
George O. Deterding, 78 years of Prairie Du Rocher, IL, passed away at his life-long home on January 18, 2019. George was born October 16, 1940 in Prairie du Rocher.
George was a farmer and owned and operated George Deterding Custom Bulldozing. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, IL., Randolph County Farm Bureau, Illinois Pork Producers, and Operating Engineer Local 520. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Patricia, nee Roscow, Deterding, daughter, Rebecca J. (Roger) Rice, son, James L. Deterding, daughter, Teresa A. Ehret, son, Alan G. (Amy) Deterding, 10 grandchildren, Devin, Samantha, Lucas, Olivia, Kendra, Dalton, Kylie, Katie, Kaysie, Ethan, sister-in-law Kathryn (Daniel) DeVan, along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Isabella, nee Nevois, Deterding, son, Douglas J. Deterding, two brothers and three sisters and one brother-in-law,
Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2 - 6 p.m. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL. Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, IL., with Father Dennis Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Prairie du Rocher, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, IL.
