OBITUARY
Garla Jane Smoot
Garla Jane (Anderson) Smoot, age 72, of Marion, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, with her close family and friends by her side. She was born January 9, 1948, in Marion, IL, to Don Mitchell Anderson and Barbara (Boomhower) Anderson and lived in Marion most of her life. Garla was a 1966 graduate of Marion High School in Illinois. She graduated from beauty school in 1968. She spent most of her career at theMarion Elks and Marion Toyota Body Shop where she made many lifelong friends. She was loved and adored by her family and friends for her witty sense of humor and her kind heart. Survivors include her son, Mitchell Smoot and his wife, Jennifer, of Carterville; her son, Michael Smoot and his wife, Lori, of Franklin, TN; her grandchildren, Nicholas Smoot, Payton Smoot, Logan Smoot, Landon Robinson, Jaden Smoot, Gabriel Smoot, and Avree Robinson; her dear friend, Brenda Etheridge of Sebring, FL; her niece, Kelly Autry and her husband, Gary of Greenfield, IN; and nephew, David Bloss of Flower Mound, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Barbara Anderson; her sister, Donna Cain; and her niece, Kris Bloss. There will be no public services for Garla J. Smoot. Arrangements are being handled by Leesman Funeral Home, Dupo, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Elks #800 at 204 S. Market St. Marion, IL 62959.
