Frederic E. Fritzinger's Obituary
Frederic E. Fritzinger, 94 years, of Millstadt, Illinois passed away on May 6th, 2024. He was born December 9th, 1929 in Belleville, Illinois to Christian and Carrie (Keck) Fritzinger.
He attended Eckert, a one room schoolhouse where he had perfect attendance all 8 years. He then graduated from Belleville High School.
Fred worked at Shell Oil Refinery in Wood River, IL for 39 years.
He was a US Army Veteran and served in Korea and in December of 2022, was a recipient of the Quilt of Valor. He was a lifetime member of the Millstadt VFW Post 7980 and he enjoyed gardening, hunting, spending time with his family and going to the casino, where he was usually very lucky! In his younger years, he was an avid raccoon hunter and ran field trial dogs.
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Ruth (Tendler) Fritzinger, son, Fred (Lisa) Fritzinger, daughter, Stephanie Schultz, grandchildren, Cameron (Renee) Ahrens and Clay (Sarah) Ahrens, great-grandchildren, Taylor and Abigal Ahrens and Addison, Vince, Collin, and Colson Ahrens, nephews, Jeffery (Bev) Balk and John Ryan, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Carrie Fritzinger, son-in-law, Robert Schultz, sister, Dorothy Balk, brother-in-law, Doug Tendler, and sister-in-law, Carol Miller.
Visitation will be Friday, May 10th, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois. Services will be held immediately after on Friday, May 10th, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Darrell Weber officiating. A private interment will follow.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Millstadt VFW Post 7980, 200 S. Veterans Dr., Millstadt, IL 62260 or Heartland Hospice, 333 Salem Place, Fairview Heights, IL 62208
