Francis J. "Nick" DeKum's Obituary
He was born in Belleville, IL, the son of the late Julius and Cecelia (Aydt) DeKum. He was a retired mail carrier for the US Postal Service. In 1962 he became Illinois first official bike riding mail carrier. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 155. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and a marshal at Tamarack Golf Course. Nick was a season ticket holder of St. Louis "Big Red" football, he was a Rams and Cubs fan and enjoyed bartending.He was married to Eleanor "Sis" (Watson) DeKum, who survives him. They were married on March 31, 1951, at Belleville, IL.
