Florence L. Greenlee's Obituary
Florence L. Greenlee, 99 yrs., of Columbia, IL. She was born in Farnam, NE, the daughter of the late William and Hannah (Amstutz) Wharton. Florence attended high school at Farnam, NE and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She then taught school for several years in the Sandhills of Nebraska and near Farnam, NE. In 1935 she married Frank M. Greenlee of Moorefield, NE, later moving to Waterloo, IA and in 1948, to Jesup, IA. She taught piano for many years in Jesup and later was secretary to the superintendent of the Jesup Public School until 1979, at which time she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, The Even Dozen Study Club, and Order of the Eastern Star. She was also the church organist for many years. Besides her love for music, she loved nature, horseback riding, and taking care of her kitties. She was very talented with her craft of knitting and sewing. Since September of 2000, she made her permanent residence close to her family in Columbia, IL. She continued her music ministry at Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia, IL.
