Feodor F. Cruz
Feodor "Ted" F. Cruz, PHD, 84 years, formerly of Columbia, IL., passed away on October 19, 2024. He was born July 19, 1940 in Manila, Philippines to the late Alberto and Patrocinio (Fojas) Cruz and the son-in-law of the late Leonard and Lucille Cullen.
Dr. Feodor F. Cruz was educated in the Philippines, Europe and the U.S. He received his B.A and PH.L. degrees from Santo Tomas University in Manila, S.T.B from the Angelicum in Rome and his PHD from St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He taught philosophy at La Salle University, Ateneo University in Manila and St. Louis University in Missouri. He was Chairman of the Philosophy Department and retired Professor Emeritus at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. Ted received academic awards and grants from Fulbright-Hays, Ford Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, Danforth Foundation and others. He is the founder and board chairman of the International Foundation for the support of the Education of Indigent Children.
Ted enjoyed golf, fishing and playing his electric upright base in his brother-in-law Richard Cullen's band.
Surviving are his loving wife Virginia, nee Cullen, Cruz; brothers, Percival (Lily) Cruz, Virgil (Fe) Cruz Florante Cruz; sisters, Jennifer (Danny) Pagabyab, Judith Canimo; brother-in-law Larry (Barbara) Cullen; sister-in-law, Darlene Cullen and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his sister Thelma Celestina and his brothers Alberto Jr. Cruz, Walfrido Cruz and Roger Cruz.
Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2024, 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Palmer Rd., Columbia, IL. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am, at the church with burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
