Evelyn Hulda Schwartzkopf's Obituary
Evelyn Hulda Schwartzkopf, 93 years of Baldwin, IL, passed away at 7:44 PM, Friday, February 25, 2022 at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, IL.
Evelyn was born on July 22, 1928, in Steeleville, IL to Fred and Hulda (Schaak) Meyer. She married Cecil Schwartzkopf on September 13, 1952 in Bremen, IL. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2003.
In her early years, she worked as a secretary for Egyptian Telephone and then later at the Nutrition Center and Motel in Baldwin. Evelyn also worked in the family-owned furniture restoration business for many years. She was Lutheran and a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. She was a member of St. John's Ladies Aide and Altar Guild and was a former Sunday School teacher.
She enjoyed quiet time spent with her beloved family and was a talented gardener and enjoyed canning. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Cecil. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children- Gary (Faye) Schwartzkopf and Cindy (Thomas) Steele both of Red Bud and Greg Schwartzkopf and Brad Schwartzkopf both of Benton, MO, grandchildren- Adam (Addrienne) Markley, Troy (Alicia) Markley, Ben (Jill) Schwartzkopf, Lanie (Andy) Pensoneau, Amanda (Travis) Helmkamp, Rachel (Derek Peebles) Steele, Alycia (Adam) Ward and Bethany (Steven) Dickson, great grandchildren- Meghan Gillison, Samantha, Tyler, Ellie and Jack Markley, Lacey (Brendan) Bilderback, Brittany, Taylor, Madison, Sage and Jackson Pensoneau, Lucas and Eve Schwartzkopf, Joshua and Abigail Helmkamp, Rylee Dickson and Thea Ward, great great grandchildren- Logan, Ella and Natalie and one brother- Art Meyer of Waterloo, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kathryn (Ken) Markley; two sisters- Erna Ernsting and Hilda Wilson and brothers- Ray and Harold Meyer;
The visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud and Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin, IL. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday March 2, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Pastor Brian Nowak will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin.
