Emma J. Kaufman's Obituary
Emma J. Kaufman, nee Hostetler, 85, of Waterloo, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Oak Hill Senior Living in Waterloo, Illinois.
Emma was a devoted wife, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many. Above all, Emma was a dedicated servant of the LORD and a scholarly Bible student. She was an avid reader of God’s word with a desire to continually learn and grow and help others. From a young girl growing up in Ohio until her passing, Emma had an insatiable love of reading and was surrounded by books and her Kindle. A talented musician, she played the organ and saxophone in the church orchestra and was a choir member. Emma enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, bird watching, working in her flowers, and traveling to new places. She was an extraordinary person touching many lives. Emma lived her life with a focus on the world to come.
Emma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Kaufman and her parents, Jonas and Lovina Hostetler. She is survived by a loving brother, Monroe (Sandi) Hostetler, her best friend and loving sister, Elsie Hostetler, along with her dearly loved nephews, Michael (Judy), Mark (Amy), and Jonathan (Priya) Hostetler, many great nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 12:00 pm with Pastor Steve Coy officiating.
Memorials may be made to New Covenant Fellowship or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
At Mrs. Kaufman’s request, she will be cremated following the services.
