Dorothy L. Wolfmeier's Obituary
Dorothy L. Wolfmeier, nee Mehrtens, 91 years of Millstadt, IL., born November 23, 1926 in Millstadt, IL, departed this life on December 27, 2017.
Dorothy was a life-long member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. She was a member of Zion Kitchen Band, Zion Women's Fellowship, a charter member of Midwest Polka Club, Millstadt Sister City, and Millstadt Senior Services group.
Dorothy attended 8 years in a one room school house and 2 years at Millstadt High School, with perfect attendance. She was an employee of Millstadt Creamery and Vogts Department Store in Columbia, IL. Co-owner with her husband Roy of Roy Wolfmeier Truck Services in Millstadt, IL. Dorothy was an avid gardener, canning her home grown vegetables and fruits. She loved to dance a lively polka, play bingo, and spend time with her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Roy G. Wolfmeier, whom she married April 4, 1948 at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. Roy passed on October 27, 2011, her parents, Herman and Christine, nee Albert, Mehrtens, her in-laws, George and Elizabeth, nee Washausen, Wolfmeier, brothers, Raymond (Ida), Harold (Florence), Alvin (Salome), Herman (Lucille) Mehrtens, sister, Ardella (Elmer) German, sisters-in-law, Viola Wolfmeier and Esther Mergelkamp, and daughter-in-law Regina "Gina" Wolfmeier.
Surviving are her sons, Robert (Marge) Wolfmeier of Millstadt, IL, Ronald Wolfmeier of Millstadt, IL, her daughter, Marlene (David) Dow of Columbus, IN. her grandchildren, Reshell (Bobbie) Schmidt of Millstadt, IL., Eric (Beth) Wolfmeier of Belleville, IL., Rebecca (Matt) Schmidt of Millstadt, IL., Jill Wolfmeier (Jason Hestand) of St. Louis, MO., Robbie (Sarah Blevins) Wolfmeier of Millstadt, IL., Patrick Dow (Jamie Chanie Mobley) of Indianapolis, IN., Andrew Dow (Shannon Campbell) of Chicago, IL., and Matt (Staci) Dow of Bloomington, IN., great-grandchildren, Andria Vilchez, Claudia Vilchez & Jacob Schmidt of Millstadt, IL., Roy Wolfmeier of Millstadt, IL., Hunter Blevins of Millstadt, IL., Jackson and Isabella Schmidt of Millstadt, IL., Isabelle, George, and Olivia Wolfmeier of Belleville, IL., Natalie Dow of Indianapolis, IN., Noah and Alexander Monroe of Bloomington, IN., and Anika Esther Dow of Bloomington, IN.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Memorial Hospital and Memorial Care Center for their care for Dorothy.
Visitation will be will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL. and on Wednesday, January 3, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, IL. with Rev. Darrell Weber, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill. or Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
