Dorothy Jo Light Sallman Easter's Obituary
Dorothy Jo Light Sallman Easter was born on May 18, 1937, in Birch Tree, Missouri and died on September 26, 2025, in Waterloo, Illinois.
Proceeded in death by her parents Everett Light and Bernice Collins Light, three brothers, five sisters, two husbands, Glenn Roger Sallman (April 1983) and Frederick Easter (October 2017), and her son, Christoper Glenn Sallman (September 2023).
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Sallman, Nashville, Tennessee, her grandchildren, Maxwell Sallman (Elyse), Freeburg, Illinois, Joshua Sallman, Red Bud, Illinois, as well as great-grandchildren Harper Sallman and Oliver Sallman, stepchildren, Shirley Tucker (Jim), Toni Easter, Cari Mahoney (Sean), and Loren Easter (Maggie).
Dorothy was blessed to have loved and married two wonderful men. Dorothy graduated from McKendree College in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing, an accomplishment of which she was very proud. Education was a priority of Dorothy’s, and she enjoyed learning, reading, spirited conversations and games.
She enjoyed time with her family, travel, church and gardening. Over her lifetime, Dorothy mastered many skills and hobbies, including sewing, bowling, canning, cooking and cake decorating. Dorothy was a wonderful seamstress.
Dorothy found solace at Cedarhurst Memory Care in Waterloo over her final years. While living there, she received excellent care and benefited from the kindness and patience of the wonderful Cedarhurst care team. Her family is eternally grateful for the dedicated care givers of Cedarhurst and Family Hospice.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 30 at 10:00 am at Leesman Funeral Home, 218 South Metter Avenue, Columbia, Illinois, with the service at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Affton, Missouri.
