Dorothy M. Haberl's Obituary
Dorothy M. Haberl, 93 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on March 29, 2018. She was born December 10, 1924, in St. Louis, MO, daughter of the late Peter and Adelaide, nee Cissell, Sudbeck. She was married to the late Vernon 'Buzz' Haberl. They were married November 17, 1945, in St. Louis, MO. He had passed away July 17, 2005.
Mrs. Haberl, was Rosie the Riveter during WWII. She was also the former manager of fine jewelry at Susman’s, as well as the Manager of fine jewelry at Famous Barr, where she was responsible for launching and staging the new fine jewelry locations at Downtown St. Louis, South Country and Crestwood, where she eventually retired in 1987. Dot was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), She was also, actively involved in the Battle of the Bulge wives organization, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, Il since 1957. Dot was an amazing drawer, she loved to travel, talk politics, and garden.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Drevicki of Belleville, IL, son-in-law, Chris Ziebold of Waterloo, IL, grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Treadwell, Tracey (Daniel) Van Leuven, Sonia (Joe) Chappell, Andrea (Chris) Davis, Jason (Bobbi) Ziebold, Ryan (Michelle) Drevicki, and Nathan Ziebold, great-grandchildren, Joe and Jamie Bisson, Danielle and Charles Van Leuven, Ellen Treadwell, Logan and Landon Davis, Sophia, Luke and Sean Chappell, and Brayden Drevicki, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Kay Ziebold, brother, Jim Sudbeck; grandchild, Kristen Ziebold; and son-in-Law, John Drevicki.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, following the visitation, with Fr. Carl Scherrer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
