Donald H Wegener's Obituary
Donald Herbert Wegener, 64, of rural Ruma, IL passed away on October 8, 2021 in his home with his family at his side. He was born August 18, 1957 in Red Bud.
Don was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ruma, where he belonged to the Men’s Club and served as treasurer and elder. He loved nature and wildlife, painting, sketching, and photography. He also loved spending time at his lake and barbecuing with family and friends. He especially loved the annual tradition of attending the Thresherman Festival in Pinckneyville; the same as his grandfather and great grandfather did before him and his son continues with his children.
Surviving are his son, Ryan (Chelsea) Wegener of rural Ruma; his daughter, Chelsea Wegener of Columbia, IL; six grandchildren, Alexa, Brendyn, Caden, Scarlett, Liam, and Gavin; his sisters, Debra (David) McCutcheon of rural Ruma and Patricia (Bill) Chartrand, Jr. of rural Steeleville, IL; his aunt, Pearl May of rural Ruma; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dolly Wegener, and his uncle, Norman May.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ruma, and on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ruma. Pastor Russell Koen will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, east of Ruma, Illinois. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud.
The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ruma, or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
