Donald J. Mergelkamp, 85 years of Baldwin, IL., passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, IL. He was born March 12, 1933, in St Louis, MO.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Holy Name Society, Eagles Lodge # 3059 in Sparta, National Farmers Organization, Randolph County Farm Bureau and Mattese Social Club.
Surviving are his Wife, Marjorie Mergelkamp, his Son, Larry (Janice) Mergelkamp; his Daughter, Carol Hinton; his Grandchildren, Jeremy (Peter Sutton) Hinton, Josie (Alison) Hinton, John Hinton, Chad (Laura) Mergelkamp & Trevor Mergelkamp; 5 Great-Grandchildren, his Sister, Diane Boling; his Sister-In-Law, Virginia Doll; his Sister-in-Law Alene Mergelkamp along with Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Mergelkamp; Mother, Anne Mergelkamp, nee Poepper, his Step-Mother, Marie Mergelkamp, nee Porta and his Brother, Ralph Mergelkamp.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10 from 3:00-7:00 P.M. at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, IL.
Services with Mass will be held Monday, March 11 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation 1 hour prior at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, IL., with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer, officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud, IL.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Vitas Hospice, the American Cancer Society or in the form of Masses.
