Donald W. Freeland's Obituary
Donald W. Freeland, 93 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on April 10, 2019, at home with his family at his side. He was born August 31, 1925, in Paris, TN, son of the late Brown B., Sr., and Alice, nee Ash, Freeland. He was married to Charlotte, nee Schneider, Freeland, who survives him. They were married February 21, 1953, in Columbia, IL.
Don was retired from the Monsanto - W.G. Krummrich Plant, Sauget, IL (38 years of service). He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Local #12 Monsanto Retirees Club, and American Legion Post 581, Columbia, IL. Don served in the U.S. Navy and Marines, and was a Veteran of WW II.
Surviving also are his daughter, Becky (Clyde) Trexler of Columbia, IL; two sons, Bruce (Cindy Huseman) Freeland of Columbia, IL, and Brent (Carol) Freeland of Columbia, IL; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Kutterer of Waterloo, IL, and Selma Lieb of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Lila Freeland of North Augusta, SC, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Brian D. Freeland; two brothers, Brown B. Freeland, Jr., and Gordon Freeland; and two brothers-in-law, Tom Kutterer, and William Lieb.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2019, 10:00 am - 11:30 am, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL. Funeral services will be held following visitation on Saturday, at 11:30 am, with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. A luncheon will follow the church service in the church fellowship hall.
