Diane Elizabeth Tharp's Obituary
Diane E. Tharp, 55 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 30, 2017, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born September 21, 1962, in East St. Louis, IL, daughter of the late Ellis S. and Cammie Jeanette, nee McBee, Davis. She was married to Brian D. Tharp, who survives her. They were married September 29, 2014, in Key West, FL.
Diane’s number one priority in life was her loving family, followed closely by her many friends to whom she was devoted to. As an animal lover, Diane was supported throughout her illness by her three dogs, Annie, Lucy and Bodey, who were always able to put a smile on her face. An avid fisher, she enjoyed spending time casting lines with friends and family, and she especially enjoyed it when she brought in the biggest catch. Apart from fishing, Diane enjoyed traveling, gardening and cooking. Her career as a flight attendant allowed her to travel all over the world, something she continued to enjoy throughout her life. She also worked as a paramedic and taught CPR classes through her own business. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Turner Hall and was active in fundraising for 3 Little Birds 4 Life , a charity organization that is passionate about giving young adults with cancer the support and resources they need.
Also, surviving are her daughter, Shelby A. Stein; son, Cade M. Stein, and their father, Chris Stein; step-daughter, Kelsey Tharp; step-son, Alec Tharp; two brothers, Mike (Janice) Davis, and Steven (Jennifer) Davis; step-mother, Rose Lee Davis, along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 9, 2017, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 9, at 12:00 noon, at the church, with Fr. Carl Scherrer, officiating. Mrs. Tharp was cremated according to her wishes.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: 3 Little Birds 4 Life P.O., Box 187, Collinsville, IL, 62234. For more information, please access our website, www.leesmanfuneralhome.com.
