I first met Bro Dennis in an interview for pastor at our church. He had no experience, wasnt yet licensed, but i felt he was intelligent, and knew his calling from God. Didnt hurt he was a U of I grad also. So he got the job and served approx 10 yrs as our pastor. Thats way longer than the average stay. I owned my own business, and this was the best hiring i ever did. I never had a rememberable disagreement with his leadership. Our familys and others went on a mission trip to Minot ND together one summer. It was a great time together and we came to know and appreciate each other even more. There were fun times on the trip also, jacob wasnt very old, and he, well lets just say made a few trips out behind the hay bales along the hiway. It was my privalage to serve and wirk with him and know him.
I met Dennis though my wife, his sister, Karen...
He was one of the ushers at my wedding...
I attended his commissioning along with his family and that's what pushed me across the line and made me decide to join the Air Force...
Dennis accepted me at face value and, over the years became the brother that I'd never had.
We didn't see each other often but shared the common bond of service which just added to the family bond.
Whenever we met, he always greeted me and treated me like family....
If I had to describe Dennis in one sentence I'd say that "He was proud yet humble, extremely intelligent but willing to listen and learn, loving, caring and non-judgemental"...
The world is a lesser place without him but heaven is improved!

I knew Dennis for many years as a fellow pastor. He participated in one of my seminary classes. He was an avid student of Holy Scripture. I worked with Dennis on Baptist Associational committees. Dennis was faithful to serve well for the Lord. He'd call me
to "sub" for him in the pulpit. He was a dearly-loved pastor for years at Faith Baptist Church of Freeburg, Ill. He was real and cared for people. He will be missed but not
forgotten. We thank the Lord for his ministry.
Dennis was humble and caring for those around him. He was a living example of
Jesus.
We pray the Lord to continue to assist the family in their grief. And give joy that Dennis' suffering has ended. May the Lord be honored in all things. May Jesus continue to provide for his wife Sheryl and all the family in the days ahead.
