Delbert A. Straub's Obituary
Delbert A. Straub, 74 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on March 6, 2018. He was born May 7, 1943, in Belleville, IL, son of the late Julius and Wilma, nee Riebeling, Straub. He was married to Sandra, nee Hettenhausen, Straub, who survives him. They were married March 6, 1965, in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL.
Delbert was retired as a machinist from Ameren UE, where he had worked at the Meremac power plant. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, and former member of St. John United Church of Christ, Valmeyer, IL. He enjoyed traveling and walking whenever he could. Delbert had served in the U.S. Army.
Also, surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Jim) Combs of Columbia, IL, and Cynthia (Tom Korte) Straub of Columbia, IL; step- grandchildren, Aubrey, Jennifer and Jimmy Combs; step-great-grandchild, Willow; brother, Paul (Rachel) Straub of Columbia, IL; sister-in-law, Sharon Straub of Waterloo, IL; nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Straub, step-mother, Thelma Straub, along with niece and Godchild, Lisa R. Straub.
Visitation will be held at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, on Friday, March 9, 2018, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 1:30 pm, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL, with Pastor Bob Goddard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, Illinois.
