David M. Roy's Obituary
Dupo- David M. Roy, 74, of Dupo, passed away, Saturday, October 23, 2021, at his home.
David was born on October 6, 1947, in East St. Louis to Edgar F. and Frances M. (Callis) Roy.
He was a brave veteran of the United States Army who served his country honorably during the Vietnam war. Once honorably discharged, he returned home and began working at Turner Electric and later began a 38-year career with St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping and was a member of the Waterloo Sportsman Club. He also was quite the woodworker who enjoyed making things in his workshop, loved his family and was always up for the yearly trip to Tennessee. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his daughters- Pauline (Jason) Elfrink and Cathy Roy of Dupo, grandchildren- Taylor (Jordan Cook) Johnson- Roy, Ellie Elfrink, Clayton Elfrink and Bella Elfrink of Dupo and Aleeya Barrolle of Dupo, sister- Dorothy “June” Beatte and brothers- John (Sherry) Roy and Robert (Robin) Whipple of Dupo along with other relatives, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers- Jimmy and Joseph Roy, nephew- Mark Beatte and niece- Christin Beatte.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo. Rev. Jim Jarvis will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo.
