David A. Asselmeier's Obituary
David A. AsselmeierSr., 73 yrs., of Columbia, IL, passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, MO. He was born in Belleville, IL, the son of the late Alfred and Caroline (Krone) Asselmeier.
David was a graduate of Columbia High School, and had received an A.B. Degree from Washington University, St. Louis, MO. He had taught at Cahokia, IL, Wirth Jr. High School, had been employed with Roosevelt Savings & Loan, and Monroe National/First Bank of Columbia, IL. David was active at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia Sister Cities Program, Maeystown Preservation Society, Columbia Chamber of Commerce, having received the 'Pillar of the Community Award' in 1999, Columbia Rotary Club, Columbia Police Pension Board, and the Revolving Loan Committee of the City of Columbia.
He was married to Shirley (Deffenbaugh) Asselmeier, who survives him. They were married on August 12, 1962, at St. Paul U.C. of C., Columbia, IL.
