Darlene L. Mueller's Obituary
Darlene Mueller was given life by her creator and was born on February 16, 1944, the child of Elmer and Luella (Johanning) Matzenbacher. On March 12, 1944, she received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. On March 30, 1958, she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed. She received the precious gift of the Lord’s life-giving body and blood. On August 10, 1963, she received the gift of a beloved companion in her spouse, Kenneth.
She was blessed with the gift of children, Tammi (and Clay) Sutter, Tina (and Kevin) Cason, Trisha (and Chris) Wessel, Tiffany (and Ron) Bonaldi, and Tara (and Ron) Hampton. God also gave Darlene grandchildren: Ceely, Cameron, Chet, and Cal Sutter, Brandi (and Lance) Mayer, Hunter and Jacob Cason, Courtney (and Conor) Keeley, Mercedes Orange (and fiancé Rob Fernandez), Douglas Orange, Jr., Dallas and Drake Wessel, Sophia, Sam, and Sully Bonaldi, and Paige and Isabelle Hampton. God also gave Darlene great-grandchildren: Jase and Luella Mayer and Ryann Keeley. God also provided Darlene with her brother Eugene (and Babe) Matzenbacher, her brother-in-law, Orville (and Janet) Mueller, and sister-in-law Yvonne Dehner. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward Matzenbacher.
God blessed Darlene’s life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home as a loving farmer’s wife and mother, church at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, work, and in the community. Darlene especially enjoyed flower gardening and her card club. Finally, on June 6, 2017, God blessed Darlene with the holy death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.
Darlene’s family will receive family and friends at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt on Thursday, June 8, from 2-8 pm and Friday, June 9, from 9-10 am. A funeral celebration of God’s grace to Darlene will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 9. Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and Unity Lutheran Christian Elementary School in East St. Louis.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our sister Darlene.
