Darlene Marie Caroline Goudey's Obituary
Darlene Marie Caroline Goudey, 82 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on March 8, 2018 at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She was born October 27, 1935, in Columbia, IL, daughter of the late Henry and Frieda Thiele. She was married to the late Gerald A. Goudey for over 54 years. He had passed away September 28, 2006.
Darlene worked for Bausch and Lomb (formerly Storz Instrument) for 37+ years, and was recipient of their Employee of the Year Award in 1989. Upon retirement, she worked at the Columbia Market. She was a member of the Columbia Ambulance Dept. for 16 years and had served the community as an Auxiliary Police woman under the direction of Chief Walter Riebeling. She was also employed at Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara, CA, as an O.R. Tech. She also enjoyed serving on the Columbia Zoning Board of Appeals and Columbia Civic Progress Committee, served as a Monroe County Election Judge, was a member of Christ Community Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 581 Aux., Columbia Historic Society, Columbia Optimist Club, and was a Charter Member of the International Order of Job's Daughters Bethel 65.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne (Janis) Goudey of Columbia, IL, Rodney Goudey of Columbia, IL; two daughters, Vicky Schlemmer of Columbia, IL, Tracy (Richard) Sewell of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Chris Goudey, Jennifer (Joe) Bolstad, Monica Goudey, Abby (Danielle) Palicios Goudey, Derek Schlemmer, Dana (Jon) Kovarik, Darla (Brandon Castillo) Sewell, Richie (Kelsey) Sewell, Jared and Jon Albrecht, and Ryan Fujiwara; great-grandchildren, Natalia, Galilea, and Jax Palicios Goudey, Morgan Bolstad, Joselyn and Brandon Castillo Sewell, and Hadley Sewell, along with other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Earl Thiele.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, March 12, at 11:00 am, at Christ Community Lutheran Church, Columbia, IL, with Pastor Jared Parker, officiating. Private Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
