Danny R. Biggs' Obituary
Danny R. Biggs – 74 years from Dupo, IL passed away on Friday, July 1st, 2022 at his residence. Danny was born February 13th, 1948 in E. St. Louis, IL.
Danny worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 2008 as the manager of yard operations of the St. Louis Terminal.
Danny was devoted to his community. He served as a member of the Dupo Fire Department for 59 years in a variety of positions including Fire Chief. He retired from the Fire Department in 2020 as the President of the Dupo Fire Protection District.
He took pride in bringing the community together in events such as the Dupo Police and Firemen’s Dance as well as being in charge of the Firemen’s Picnic Parade for years.
Danny also served his community as an Officer for the Dupo Police Department for 14 years.
In his spare time Danny enjoyed playing the role of lifeguard at the “Biggs Community Pool” and keeping an immaculate yard at home as well at the Fire Department.
Recently he most enjoyed driving his fur babies around town in his golf cart.
Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years Beverly Dixon Biggs, daughter Dawn (Jeff) Snider, son Justin (Leslie) Biggs, son-in-law Clif (Janna) Ticer, grandchildren Titus (Sabrina) Taylor, Julianne (Jakob Nagl) Snider, Dalton Ticer, Devin Biggs, Jacob (Haley Crank) Snider, Nathan Ticer, Brayden Biggs, and Myah Ticer. Also surviving are great grandchildren Ava and Ellie Biggs, Skyla Taylor, Blakely Snider, and Henry Nagl, his dogs Rudy and Leroy Biggs, siblings Marilyn (Bill) Conard, Jill (Paul) Naylor, Larry (Debra) Biggs, a sister-in-law Debbie (Jim) Rogers, brother-in-law Dennis (Terry) Dixon, also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A very special nephew Dennis Plew and lifelong friend Tom Markert.
Danny was proceeded in death by his beautiful daughter Danielle Biggs Ticer, parents Kelvia and Mary Alice Biggs, in-laws Frank and Betty Dixon, sisters Diana Meagher, Sally Plew, and brother Jack Biggs.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 9th, 2022, 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Dupo with a celebration of life immediately following. A first responder walk-through will begin at 1:30 P.M. In Lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude memorial contributions be directed to the Dupo Volunteer Fire Department.
