Cris J. Schumacher's Obituary
Cris J. Schumacher, 36 yrs, of Columbia, IL, passed away August 27, 2017. He was born in St. Louis, MO, to the late Lester Schumacher. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen (Riebeling) Schumacher and mother, Shirley (Block) Schumacher.
He was a loving and loyal husband, son, brother, and uncle. He loved his wife, family, and friends dearly. He was employed as an electrician by Reinhold Electric in St. Louis, MO. He first met his wife, Gretchen, in 5th grade and asked her out on the playground with a necklace. They found each other years later and never looked back. They shared a loving dog, Wrigley, who brought many years of joy and happiness to their lives. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan. He enjoyed several trips with his wife and family to Chicago over the years to support their teams. They enjoyed watching the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup and the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time with his friends fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He will be missed dearly by all those who loved him, especially his wife, Gretchen.
Also surviving: Brother, Scott (Lisa) Schumacher, nephew and niece, Brendan and Madison Schumacher; brother-in-law, Ryan Riebeling and Jeff Miller; sister-in-law Jennifer (Michael) Lind; and sister-in-law Michelle (Eric) Muckensturm, nephew and niece, Brady and Emma. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann, and brother, Brad Schumacher.
Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL, and Saturday, September 2, 2017, 9:00 am - 9:45 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Columbia, IL. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 am, at the church, with Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
