Clifford W. Haberl's Obituary
Clifford W. Haberl, 86, of Columbia, Illinois, passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He was born in Columbia, IL, the son of the late Frank and Irene (Dollar) Haberl. He was the sole proprietor of the Clifford W. Haberl Plumbing and Heating Co., Columbia, IL for 32 years. He was the last active Charter Member of the Columbia Lions Club. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Germany, was a former Prisoner of War for seven months, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a 65 year member of American Legion Post 581, received Life Membership to the Great South Western Illinois Association of Plumbing and Heating Contractors, served on the Board of Directors at Magna Bank, Columbia, IL, was a member of the Columbia Senior Citizens, and attended St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia, IL. He was married to Florence (Metter) Haberl, who survives him. They were married on August 17, 1946 in Columbia, IL.
