Clarence Henry Sutter's Obituary
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Henry William Sutter and Edna Caroline, nee Hoock, a son, Wayne Sutter and a granddaughter, Charlotte Sutter; sisters Gladys Fischer and Aileen Gravot. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Georgine, a daughter, Marilyn (Harold) Hughes and two sons, Norman (Sandy) Sutter and Clay (Tammi) Sutter all of Millstadt, a daughter-in-law, Anita Sutter of Baldwin, MO; grandsons, Wes Hughes, Ross (Amy) Hughes, Dwayne, Deano, Wade, Cameron, Chet and Cal Sutter; granddaughters, Heather (Clint) Kasten, Darlene (George) Morton, Wendy (Walter) Staas, Crystal (Erich) Savanick and Ceely Sutter; great-grandsons, Austin Morton, Cole and Crayton Kasten, Dylan and Devin Sutter; great-granddaughters, Emma Hughes, Carli Kasten, Ashlee Morton and Baby Girl Savanick due in July; brothers-in-law, John Fischer and Joe Gravot; an aunt, Alma Glenn along with nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Clarence lived out his faith in Christ every day as a faithful husband to Georgine Leona (nee Theobald) whom he married on February 14, 1941 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO. His faith was passed down to his children and was bravely lived out in the wages of war where he served during World War II. Clarence completed two campaigns in the South Pacific where he was wounded in battle earning him a Purple Heart. His service continued on in the Army Air Corp serving in the Occupational Forces of Japan until he rejoined his wife and two small children in January 1946. Two children were born to Clarence and Georgine after he returned home from the war. He was employed for 39 years at Midwest Rubber Reclaiming Company in Sauget, IL. His only interruption was the service to his country until his retirement in 1975. Clarence was a devoted family man who loved spending time working on his farm, enjoying his grandchildren and traveling with his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, IL. or Donor's Choice.
