Mrs. Yochum was born in Granite City, IL, daughter of the late Robert Paul Schwartz and Ella Jane nee Allen, Schwartz, of St. Louis, MO, who survives her. She was the wife of Stephen Yochum, who survives her. They were married in Read Obituary
We are so sorry for the loss of such a special wife and mother. I can't imagine how hard it must be to let go of someone you love so much.
We have always admired Christina's courage and convictions, especially as she protected her little sons, and gave them life. She truly was a great example of a hero for all of us. God bless her husband and the little ones as they wait to see her again in heaven.

Back in late spring, I had taken my son Joey to tumbling class in Columbia, IL. As I sat there, I looked over and saw another mom watching her child in class. As I kept staring at her, thinking to myself, I know that person, I finally said..I'm sorry, but is your name Christie?" She said "yes" and I said "I went to grade school with you". She remembered me also and couldn't believe I recognized her after all these years. We talked a bit reminiscing about grade school days at Washington Elementary and Washington Junior High in South County. That was the first and last time I had talked to her in 30 years. When I opened up the paper today and read what my eyes saw, I was in disbelief. I had no idea...Christie, May You Rest In Peace.

Christi as we called her in high school. We go back to freshman year at Mehlville. We were so close and had so many good times together. What a great friend. I had run into her several times at stores and she always had a smile on her face no matter what. I am only sorry we didn't keep in more contact. I could tell she was a wonderful mother and wife. I know she will truly be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family and friends.
