Cheryl Dexheimer, 69 years, of Columbia, IL, passed away on December 9, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, MO. Cher a devoted wife for 44 years, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and steadfast commitment. She was born March 12, 1954, in Springfield, IL, daughter of the late Frank, and Helen, nee Kerr, Berry. She was married to Mark Dexheimer, who survives her. Her life was a testament to unwavering dedication to family, marked by the joy she found in becoming a grandmother and her surrogate parental role at Melody Barnett's wedding, creating cherished memories alongside her husband Mark. A nurturing soul, she epitomized the term 'momma bear,' fiercely protective and endlessly supportive of her family. Her steadfast love encompassed her husband, Mark, their sons, David and John, daughter-in-law Bobbie, and grandson Harley. She poured her heart into nurturing and guiding her sons, instilling in them values of love, compassion, and resilience. An artist at heart, she cultivated an in-home studio where her creative spirit thrived. Her artwork was a manifestation of her boundless affection, gifts lovingly shared within her cherished circle. Beyond her immediate family, her life was enriched by the irreplaceable bond she shared with her sister-in-law, Carylon Dexheimer. Their relationship mirrored that of true sisters, sharing secrets, relishing special evenings out with dinners all over St. Louis, and embarking on adventures that often found them delightfully lost in the city. Furthermore, her life was beautifully intertwined with her sister, Suzzie Brewer. They were inseparable, akin to two peas in a pod, displaying the true essence of sisterhood. Their bond transcended distance, flying across the country at a moment's notice whenever they needed each other. Their relationship was the epitome of what every sister should be to one another-a source of unwavering support, understanding, and love. Their bond might have been the strongest of all, a testament to the enduring power of sisterly love. Moreover, her heart knew no bounds when it came to love. She embraced Harley's extended family siblings as if they were her own grandchildren, showering them with the same compassion, love, and care she bestowed upon her immediate family. Her capacity for love extended far beyond bloodlines, embracing all with open arms and a nurturing spirit. Her inseparable bond with her best friend, Becky O'Dell, remained a cornerstone of her life. The long nights spent together, engaged in friendly card games with their husbands, became cherished memories that highlighted their enduring friendship, laughter, and joy. In honoring her memory, let us hold close the warmth, love, and steadfast commitment she bestowed upon us. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever resonate in our hearts. Also surviving are her son, John R. Dexheimer of Columbia, IL; grandchild, Harley Dexheimer; sister, Sue (Bracken) Brewer, along with other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Dexheimer, along with a brother, Roger Berry. Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2023, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, Il. Memorial Services will follow visitation at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Barrett officiating. The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be in the form of flowers or to the charity of the donor's choice.
