Charles H. Crowder's Obituary
Charles H. Crowder, 92 of Columbia, IL, passed away on October 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 2, 1926, in Chester, IL. He was married to Marian, nee Stumpf, Crowder, who survives him. They were married October 1, 1949, in Dupo, IL.
Charlie was a member of American Legion Post #581, Columbia, IL, where he had served on the Honor Guard and was a past member of the executive board. He was retired from Mid-America Printing, St. Louis, MO. He had served in the U.S. Navy, and was a Veteran of WW II.
Also surviving are daughter, Phyllis Morris of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, James M. (Vanessa) Crowder of Charleston, IL, Jane Bennett of Warrenton, MO, and Kate Morris of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Bonnie, Dominic, Elena, Lilly, Molly, Sophie, and Denali; four sisters-in-law, Judith Crowder of Columbia, IL, Eileen Stumpf of Columbia, IL, Eunice Stumpf of Columbia, IL, and Karen Stumpf of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Herman (Barb) Stumpf of Columbia, IL; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cooper and Lulu Irene, nee Smith, Crowder; son, Michael Crowder; three brothers, Floyd Crowder, Alfred Crowder, and James H. Garris; sister, Lena Bean; three brothers-in-law, Norman, Paul, and Larry Stumpf.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Lawlor Funeral Home, Columbia, IL. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Koch officiating. Private Inurnment will take place in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
