Camille Hubbard Goode's Obituary
OBITUARY
Camille Goode
Camille Hubbard Goode, 69 years old of Marion, IL, passed away on December 9, 2019 peacefully at her home with her family by her side. She was born October 1, 1950, in Marion, IL.
Camille was a lifelong member of the Marion, IL community where she began her career as an elementary school teacher at the young age of 20 years old. She spent most of her career in the Marion Unit #2 school district where she helped shape the minds and futures of numerous children in the community. She shared in their achievements and inspired a love of knowledge to all the children in her classrooms throughout the years. She lead our youth to brighter futures with every lesson plan she carried out until she retired in 2013.
Camille had always been an active member of several churches throughout her lifetime. She began playing the piano and singing praise songs at Warder Street Baptist as a young teen and went on to enjoy fellowship and worship at First Baptist Church and Abundant Life Assembly of God. She was an avid Christian who believed in kindness, warmth and unconditional love to those blessed enough to be in her life.
Camille's two children were the light of her life. She supported them both, as well as many of their childhood/neighborhood friends, throughout the years. She was their biggest cheerleader. When she became a Nana, her heart grew eight times more. She was the active mother and grandmother who drove children to practices, cheered loudest at their recitals and ballgames, and relished in the joy of her family and loved ones every day.
Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer K. (Mitch) Smoot of Marion, IL; her daughter in law, Stephanie (Mike Milligan) Shafer; her eight grandchildren, Andrew, Brianna, and Carlie Shafer; Landon and Avree Robinson; Nicholas, Logan, and Gabriel Smoot; her brother William "Bill" (Lois) Hubbard; her nieces and nephews, her dear friend, Edward Clanahan, along with other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brian Shafer; her husband, Vern Goode; her brother, Roe Jean Hubbard; her father, William Roe Hubbard; and her mother, Maxine Emma Hubbard, along with several aunts, uncles, nephew, and others.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 4:00- 7:30 PM at Aldersgate Methodist Church in Marion, IL. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Jim Slone officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Marion, IL.
