Bernice Marie Hurst's Obituary
Red Bud- Bernice Marie “Niecie” Hurst, 76, of Red Bud, died at 8:55 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at her home.
Bernice was born on November 7, 1943 in Shiloh to Franklin Thomas and Bernice Ida (Spreitler) Malear. She married Luther R. Hurst on October 23, 1986 in Belleville. He preceded her in death.
She worked more than 20 years at Memorial Hospital of Belleville. She began her career working in the security department (which she was quite proud) and then later retired at Director of Communications.
She was catholic. She enjoyed ALL things Elvis Presley and saved all kinds of souvenirs and memorabilia from the many concerts she attended. She was a tenacious woman who enjoyed a good laugh and socializing with her friends and family in Branson and Las Vegas. Bernice was a talented woman who liked crafting items like quilts, ceramics, and painting. She will be dearly missed.

Daughter- Kim Reinhardt and husband Tom of Tilden
Son- Tony Riley of Valparaiso, IN
Grandson- Keith Riley and wife Kristyn of Freeburg
Great grandtwins- Layne and Evylyn Riley
Brother- Craig Malear and wife Sandy of Waterloo
Brother- Bruce Malear and wife Cathy of Sarasota, FL
Sister- Sherry Costello and Randy of Branson, MO
Sister- Diane Rainwater and husband Doug of Belleville
Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews
Her beloved dog- “Molly”
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother- Tommy Malear.
A service celebrating the life of Bernice Hurst will be held at a later date.
