Barbara Ann Howard's Obituary
Barbara Ann Howard, 88, of Cahokia, Illinois, born June 2, 1936 passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on January 27, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family in the hours preceding her death.
Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Keith Edward Howard, Sr., her parents, Hazel/ Nanny and Gerald Harton-Criss, her siblings Dorothy/Sugar (Richard) Blevins and Geraldine/Sissy (George) Zeimetz, brother-in-law Frank Hoshield, Alton Howard, sister-in-law Claudia Howard, and a daughter-in-Law Trish Howard.
Barb was a homemaker for most of her life raising her 8 children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was known for her famous taco salad, chicken and dumplings, as well as her dressing for the holidays and was happiest at family gatherings. She loved playing cards and dominos as well as many other games with family and friends. She loved making handmade pillows and stockings for her grandchildren for Christmas for many years.
Barb is survived by her children, Ann (Jim) Coleman of Cahokia Heights, IL., Keith (Holly)Howard Jr. of Millstadt, IL., Kathy Fair of Cahokia Heights, IL., Celia (Terry) Gischer of Cahokia Heights, IL., Jean (Jeff) Polus of Hillsboro, IL., Chuck Howard of East Carondelet, IL., Bobby Howard (Rick Schneider) of St. Louis, MO., and Donny (Mindy) Howard of Red Bud, IL., 36 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren . A sister-in-law Gwen Hoshield of Elsie MI., brother-in-law Harold Lee (Carolyn) Howard of Florida. She was a dear mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all that knew her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, IL., burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville. IL.
