Arlene Mary (Thomas) Dohrman's Obituary
Arlene Mary (Thomas) Dohrman, 86, formally of Millstadt, Ill., passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Arlene was born September 8, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, to Arthur and Mabel Thomas. They preceded her in death.
Arlene graduated from Ames Grade School (1951), Central High School (1955), and McKendree University. Arlene worked as Executive Secretary at G.S. Robins until her retirement. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, volunteered with Hospice of Southern Illinois, was a member of a quilt club with her sister Boots, and enjoyed spending time at PSOP. She also loved to golf, camp, fish, play bingo, gamble, and shop. She especially enjoyed the frequent visits from her great-grandchildren Rylee, Brynlee, Brantley, Chase, Brystol, Ellie, Emma, and Bailee Jo who brought laughter and joy to her later years. As well as visits with her fur friends, Tucker and Bubbles.
Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman O. Dohrman, on June 4, 2012; her sisters Mabel “Boots” Giesler and Mary Ann Cary, her brother Arthur “Sonny” Thomas Jr., her granddaughter Jennifer and nephew Tommy.
After the passing of her husband Norman, Arlene was cared for daily by her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Self who selflessly advocated for her health and well-being up until her final breath. As well as her grandchildren, Alicia (Brian) Griffin, and Sheilah (Joseph) Morrison who also advocated and assisted in her care.
Surviving are her other children, Arlene Hoffmann-Bommarito, Patricia (Terry) Henson, and Robert Hoffmann. Seven more grandchildren and twelve more great-grandchildren. As well as her special niece Leottia, and her children. She is also survived by other family and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill.
Friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill.
Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill., with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Ill.
