Arlen Raymond Harres, 88 years of Columbia, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO. He was born February 9, 1935, in East St. Louis, IL.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL. Arlen retired from Spectralite Consortium in Madison, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Ella Harres of Columbia, IL, his son, Neal Harres, his daughter, Brenda (Steve) Richter, his daughter, Rhonda (Dan) Herrmann, & his son, Curt Harres, his grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Hancock, Adam Richter, Katie (Shane) O'Brien, Sara (Brian) Tiefenbruck, Eric (Tasha) Richter, Joel (Ariel) Herrmann, Molly Harres and Emery Harres, his great-grandchildren, Kaelyn & Madden O'Brien, Benton, Jade & Faye Herrmann and Nolen and Riley Hancock, his twin brother, Allen (Judy) Harres of Columbia, IL, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Burton Harres & his parents, Richard & Edna, nee Fischer, Harres.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Columbia, IL., and on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL., with Pastor Jonathan Bangera, officiating.
Private Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery, Columbia, IL.
