OBITUARY
Alouise Justine Wiegard
Alouise Justine Wiegard, 85, of Modoc, Illinois, passed away at 1pm on September 15, 2024 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo Illinois.
She was born to the late Thomas and Lenora (Klein) Lurk on January 14, 1939 in Ste Genevieve, MO. She married William Wiegard of Modoc on October 31, 1959 at Ste Genevieve Catholic Church. He preceded her in death November 6, 2020. Also preceding her in death were her brothers Thomas, Charles and John Lurk.
Surviving are two children: Michael of Modoc (Special friend Cindy Barnes), Daughter-in-law Glenna Wiegard of Ellis Grove and Mark (Trish) of Downers Grove,
Illinois. Grandchildren: Shawn (Tiffany) of Red Bud, Larissa (Kodi LaFore) of Modoc, Sarah (Jon) Pollard of Ellis Grove, Trevor of Chicago and Monica (Kevin) Windisch of Chicago and her Great-grandchildren: Joseph, Ayden, Harlen, Mason, Scarlett, Langston and Arya.
She is also survived by a sister, Mary (Clem) Drag of St. Charles, MO., brothers: Joe (Pat) Lurk of Ste Genevieve, MO. and Bill Lurk of Ste Genevieve, MO., sisters-in-law: Shirley Lurk of Alabama, Roberta Lurk of Red Bud, IL. and Linda Lurk of Bloomsdale, MO.
Alouise taught 2nd grade at Valle Catholic Grade School in Ste Genevieve for three years and taught for one year at St. John's the Baptist Catholic School in Red Bud, Illinois. She was a dedicated homemaker.
Alouise was President of the Hospital Auxillary for the then St. Clements Hospital, she also volunteered often in the hospital gift shop.
Alouise was an active parishioner of St. Leo's Catholic Church her entire married life. As a parishioner, she was a big part of the Quilting Ladies and organizing the Quilt Bingo for the annual St. Leo's picnic until the closing of the church. Most recently she dedicated her sewing talents to creating and stuffing pillows for patients at Red Bud Hospital.
Alouise enjoyed tending to her garden and maintaining house flowers, motorcycle riding with Bill and the Randolph County Riders. She also loved attending Saturday night dances with Bill, playing cards, being outdoors and generally loving life.
In lieu of customary remembrances family request with gratitude that Memorial Contributions be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud, Illinois.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Monday, September 23, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prairie Du Rocher, Illinois, with burial following at St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
