Alice H. Liefer's Obituary
Alice H. Liefer, 87, of Red Bud, passed away at 9:45 PM, Friday, December 18, 2020 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Alice was born May 15, 1933 at home in Evansville to Albert and Louise (Nehrt) Salger. She married Homer J. Liefer on February 17, 1951 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Evansville, IL. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2014.
She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. She was a hardworking and caring woman who stayed home to take care of her beloved husband and children. Alice loved to go shopping with her fiends and family and visiting Branson for the shops and shows. She was a spontaneous woman who was always ready to go and visit someone or play card games like "Euchre". She most enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Liefer and wife Bonnie of Baldwin and Wayne Liefer and Toni of Evansville; three daughters, Sharon Kessler and husband James of Evansville, Denise Liefer of Evansville and Deanna Mueller and husband David of Perryville, MO and daughter in law, Gail Liefer of Waterloo. She is also survives by eleven grandchildren including- Melissa Siegfried and husband Jeff, Darren Kessler and wife Melissa, Travis Liefer and wife Katie, Lindsey Liefer, Lucas Liefer and wife Valerie, Tyler Liefer and wife Rachael, Matthew Liefer and wife Christy, Aaron Liefer and friend Amy, Megan Berkbigler and husband David, Ryan Mueller and wife Kindle and Haley Liefer, numerous great grandchildren; sister; Luella Salger of Red Bud and sisters in law; Marlene Salger of Evansville and Jean Salger of Chester, along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Greg Liefer and brothers- Glen and Paul Salger.
A private funeral will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baldwin. Pastor Clifford Adair will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, December 21, 2020 at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud. Due to current CoViD19 mitigation, facial masks are required and social distancing will be encouraged. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud..
