Alan Metter was born in Belleville, Illinois, son of Harold and Dorothy (Herrmann) Metter, of Columbia, IL, who survive him. He was a carpenter, a member of Carpenters Union Local #1997 for 20 yrs. and specialized in stairbuilding for the last 10. He was a loving father, took pride in his work, and liked to deer hunt.
