Al Smith Roy Ferry's Obituary
Al Smith Roy Ferry, 85, of East Carondelet, Ill., born, November 7, 1930 in North Dupo, Ill, passed away, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his residence.
Al was retired from General American Life Insurance Company as executive director of group pensions. Al was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in East Carondelet, Ill., he was on the Hall of Fame committee at the Dupo Community School District, former school board member for Dupo School District 196, had served as president of Hough School PTA, had coached Khoury League baseball for several years, Al was the first in his family to graduate from college and was a proud Mizzou Alum., he enjoyed reading and fishing and he was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mathilda, nee Schmidt, Ferry, his brothers, Bee Ferry, Harlan Ferry, Vernon Ferry, Donald Ferry and Nelson Ferry, his sisters, Melva Kronk and Cleo McBride, and his son-in-law, James Tiemann.
Al is survived by his wife of 65 years, Adeline Ferry, nee Neeman, his children, Michael (Victoria) Ferry, Linda (Tod) Ragsdale, Karen Tiemann and John (Kathy) Ferry, his grandchildren, Maureen Fieleke, Joseph Ferry, David Ferry, Erica Donnell-Ragsdale, Nicole Morgan, Abel Ferry and Clarissa Ferry, his great grandchildren, Isaac, Caleb, Benjamin, Gideon, Abbey, Griffin, Logan and Sloan, his brother, Floyd (Rosemary) Ferry, he is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorials: the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Siteman Cancer Center or to the Daugherty Public Library in Dupo, Ill.
Visitation: Visitation will be on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo, Ill., and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
Funeral: Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in East Carondelet, Ill., Pastor William Schmidt, officiating.
Burial will be in Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo, Ill.
