Lavon Lance

September 8, 1936 - December 29, 2020

Red Bud- Lavon Lance, 84, of Red Bud, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Red Bud Regional Care Center. He was born September 8, 1936, in Tuckerman, AR to Don and Lillie (White) Lance. He married Lavern Nichols on May 19, 1953 in Greene County, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2020. Lavon was a retired machinist who worked 27 years at Red Bud Industries. Lavon also farmed 60 acres for 60 years working the land growing crops. He was a patient and honest man who enjoyed time spent with his family, camping at Murphysboro State Park and fishing for crappie. He was a devoted family man who gave his life to God in 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bud where he helped with constuction. He will be dearly missed. Surviving are two daughters, Teresa (Wayne) Polk of Red Bud and Rhonda (Jay) Hoercher of Lebanon,; son, Steven (Lynn) Lance of Red Bud,; nine grandchildren, Tanya (Dujuan) Jackson, Derek (Missy) Polk, Douglas (Rebecca) Krause, Ryan Krause, Jennifer (Mike) Wegener, Jaylynn Hoercher, Jamie (Ricky) Figueroa, Chad Jenkins, Von Lance; fourteen great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Jackson, Nora Polk, Oliver Polk, Wyatt Krause, Mason Krause, Chase Wegener, Evie Wegener, Bryleigh Redman, Allison Throop, Samantha Throop, Jasmine Figueroa, Lexie Jenkins, Macy Jenkins, Gage Jenkins; sister- Peggy Adams and husband Ron of Mumford, TN, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Bruce Lance and one brother Billy Don Lance. A private funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Red Bud. Pastor Paul Kurrelmeyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2021, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm, at First Baptist Church, in Red Bud. Due to current CoViD 19 mitigation, the wearing of masks will be required and social distancing will be maintained. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud.
