Retired Master Sgt. Delbert J. Moll U.S.A.F. Retired Master Sgt. Delbert J. Moll, age 95, born January 25, 1925, rural Prairie du Rocher, IL died on December 24, 2020. Mr. Moll was a WWII Veteran, Merchant Marines (Coast Guard) Veteran, US Army Veteran (Paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Div), Korean War Veteran, and retired from the US Air Force with 23 years of honorable service as a 1st Sgt. He also served 7 years in the USAF Reserves. He was awarded several military awards including the AF Commendation medal and the Chaplin's Cross from the American Legion (state level). Delbert received a White House Presidential award thanking him for his WWII service, signed by President Trump, awarded in January 2020. Delbert served his country in a very patriotic and dedicated way and was a member of the WWII Greatest Generation. He had a fierce sense of pride for his country and military service. His military service took him to such places as England, France, Germany, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, China, Pacific Islands and several other bases in the USA. He also retired from the US Post Office. He was a manager of the VFW Post #6632 in Red Bud, IL for 12 years he served as the Post Chaplain. He was a member and past Post Commander of the American Legion Post #662 in Prairie du Rocher, IL. Delbert served on many funeral details for his VFW comrades and Legionaries. Mr. Moll was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret, nee Saunders, Moll, whom he married on September 22, 1951 in Manchester, England and died on March 14, 2000; his parents Theodore F. and Matilda, nee Hunter, Moll; his son Christopher; 6 brothers T.J., Gilbert, Woodrow, Lester, Leo, and Charles. Surviving are his wife Mary Ann, nee Braun, Moll; a daughter Janice (Charles) Muench; granddaughters Ashley (Sean) Guenther and Kelly Muench; great-grandson Cael Steven Guenther and Garren James Guenther; step granddaughters Jennifer (Frank) Blackmon and Lisa Muench; great-granddaughters Logan, Taylor, and Pierce Blackmon; nieces, nephews, good friends Don and Barb Roth and many other friends. Burial, with military honors, will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Even though you are gone, you lived your life to the fullest coupled with love, compassion, laughter and hard work. Delbert also enjoyed camping and traveling very much. No flowers. You may donate to Hospice, VFW, or American Legion or your individual choice. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 8:30 - 10:30 am, at St Peter UCC, Red Bud, IL. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am at the church, with Pastor Cory Hartz officiating. Arrangements are be handled by Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL.
