Margaret Theresa Dowd

Margaret Theresa Dowd, 89, of East Carondelet, passed away at 12:47 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on June 10, 1932, in Fornfelt, Missouri to Frank John and Leona (Staebel) Dowd. She was a lifelong Catholic and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo where she was also a member of the Lady's club. She was a hardworking and dedicated woman who began a career in bookkeeping at the age of 18 at Newberry's (later Woolworth's) Department Store in St. Louis until her retirement. Margaret was a generous woman who enjoyed baking cakes for everyone who asked or needed them and spending quality time with her beloved friends and family. She was a St. Louis Cardinal's fan. In her spare time she liked going to DairyLand, working crossword puzzles and crocheting doilies for friends and family. She will be dearly missed. Surviving are her brother- Francis "Frank" Dowd and wife Nancy of Imperial, MO, nieces- Kim Dowd of St. Louis, MO and Renee Torkelson and husband Scott of Naperville, great nieces and nephews- Tyler Arnold, Lindsey Michel and Miles Torkelson, great-great nieces and nephews- Cole, Dean, Molly and Hannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Leona and sister- Patricia Dowd. The memorial visitation and rosary will be Friday, February 4, 2022, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo. The memorial Mass will be held, Saturday February 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo. Fr. Linus Umoren C.M. and Fr. James Thomas will concelebrate. Memorial donations are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dupo and will be accepted at the funeral home or church.
