February 19, 1928 - December 28, 2020
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, “Bert” Bettie Marie Hoepfinger, nee Weible, passed away at home with her family by her side on December 28, 2020, at the age of 92. She was born to Harry and Anna Weible, nee Schauer, on February 19, 1928 in Ferndale, Michigan. She was raised on a working farm in Millstadt, IL along with her sister, Frances Hoock, nee Weible, and spent many weekends and summers visiting her maternal immigrant grandparents in St. Louis, Missouri. She married Nelson Hoepfinger on February 10, 1946, in Millstadt, IL where they raised their two sons. Bert worked for several local family focused businesses, including her parents’ store, (Weible’s Grocery), their own bakery delivery service, and for the St. Louis Globe Democrat. She was unwavering in her Christian faith and was an active member of Zion Evangelical Church. She was a strong matriarch of her family, and a good friend to all. She touched the lives of many with her generosity and passion for life. She enjoyed attending family events, traveling with friends, dancing, and bingo. She had an amazing memory for all things, always had a warm smile, and a friendly word for everyone. Family, friends, learning and trying new things were all important to Bert, and she was especially known for her extraordinary creativity and attention to detail. She is survived by her sons; David Hoepfinger and Michael (Jane) Hoepfinger, grandchildren; Kristen Hoepfinger, Calvin Hoepfinger, Kara (Adam) Rosenkranz, Gustin Hoepfinger, Kimberly Lunte, Bradley (Jessica) Lunte, great-grandchildren; Jillian, Samuel, Alexander Rosenkranz, and Henry, Oliver, and Hannah Lunte, nieces; Sherry (Bob) Habermehl, and Laurie (Jay) Eihausen, along with numerous great nieces, nephews and dear cousins. The family would like to offer special thanks to Nancy Krummrich for her compassion, friendship and skilled assistance, as well as BJC Hospice for making Bert’s final days comfortable and peaceful. There will be a private memorial for immediate family with a celebration of life to be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Robyn Hoepfinger Scholarship Fund, Stray Rescue of St Louis, Zion Evangelical Church, BJC Hospice or donor’s choice.
